The day I painted this piece I had no feeling or inspiration and I am coming to learn that these types of days produce the best results. I began painting the usual way, background first and nothing was really coming forward. I became quite judgmental towards my process. Then I remembered, the color that always gets me feeling some kind of way is a pthalo blue mixed with some yellow and white and it gives this lovely turquoise mint color. I started mixing that color and that put me into the flow almost immediately. Sometimes it just takes the right color and I end up feeling the depth and ease I want to feel. As my artistic career is unfolding I am becoming hyper aware that color is everything for me. If I do not resonate with a color I am using or making, I have a harder time connecting to the piece and letting myself flow.
